Animal Instincts

Every now and then
Desire forces in
No attention to timing,
she settles in for many
days and nights
Feet up
stockings on
not timid in the least
“Oh Lordy,”
her twin Gemini
Just in time for Spring —
everybody’s doing it…
Desire is more animal
than anything

  1. It’s funny how we often don’t think of ourselves as animals. We have desires, drives, needs which seem so out of our control.

The secret, I think, might lie in letting them forth. In exposing them, in exploring them, in embracing them. I feel like you’ve done that with this poem, and I thank you for it.
