I am a lover
in dreams
a wife
later on
a mother
hypothetically
an idea
forever
always
always
always
available to
be a girlfriend
good for a
flatter
a flirt
when I’m not
being a brick wall
I am of my own creation
You reap just what you sew
I am a fantasy
good for only
brief periods
of a man’s day
outliving the
otherwoman’s
demands
I live
in the space
before sleeping
in the stolen time
after dinner when
your wife
is cleaning up
I live in your
dusty roads
lined with roses
and sunset light
I am an idea
an adventure
I show up
on mountain-tops
when you’ve fallen
behind the group
and feel
that someone’s
there with you,
that’s me
You think,
I know who
would like this place
You give me that.
Where have you been all my life?
I don’t know when were you born?
Oh AGES ago. In a time when people had no dress sense, synth-pop was topping the charts and Thatcher was about to declare war over some insignificant islands in the South Atlantic.
What fun Terah! I love it! 🙂 xx

I love the imagery and the short, one word lines. It emphasizes the poem’s idea, even if the reader doesn’t know the whole story behind it. 🙂
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment, it means a lot. I will continue writing because of you and people like you, so thank you. Sometimes we ask, is this worth anything at all?
I think the answer is always yes. No matter how little it matters.
Again, thanks for taking the time to write.
P.S. You should link your Gravatar to your WordPress blog. Really beautiful photo by the way!
You display a really interesting sensibility and take on life.
Rather than argue, thank you.
